AOP Côtes du Roussillon Villages
Château Montner is situated in the Agly valley, in the North of Roussillon where Grenache noir, Syrah and Carignan vines thrive on sunny hillside soils of schist.
The vineyards for this wine are located in the Agly Valley, near Latour de France. The vines are planted on rolling hills over east-west facing schist soils. Only the finest fruit is selected.
40% Syrah, 40% Carignan, 20% Grenache noir.
The best vineyards are selected and picked by hand. Carignan undergoes carbonic maceration for approximatively three weeks. The Grenache and Syrah are destemmed, crushed and undergo traditional maceration for over four weeks.
In tanks for several months before being bottled at the estate.
Deep garnet-red hue with dark purple highlights. Preominant red fruit aromas on the nose with notes of liquorice and pepper. Beautiful roundness on the attack then flows into soft, sily tannins. The long fruity finish offers up spice and garrigue notes..
Drinking well now but can be cellared for 3 to 4 years.
TPerfect with a whole host of meats, such as stuffed capon, duck with olives, lamb chops and flank steak with shallots, but also makes a superb match for cheese platters with goat's cheese, camembert, brie, garlic and herb cheese, comté and emmental.
Serve between 16 and 18°C.
